Tours at Ruthven Park
Tours Are approximately one hour in length.
Summer: from Victoria Day weekend until Thanksgiving Day -Wednesday through Sunday and holiday Mondays from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Tours are on the hour with the last tour at 4 p.m.
Mansion tours of 10+ rooms are guided by staff and/or volunteers and are approximately one hour in length. All furnishings and possessions are original to the five generations of the Thompson family who called Ruthven home. Being a historic house museum, there are no ramps or elevators to or in the mansion. Chairs can be made available for those with mobility difficulties. A tour is also available through touch screen for those with physical disabilities. There are 8 steps up to the mansion and 21 steps to the second floor once inside.
Special 2017 Offering – Canada 150 Country Day Tours
Nestled along the banks of the gentle Heritage Grand River, Caledonia is rich in stories of the past. As part of your 2017 celebrations for Canada’s 150th birthday, we invite your group to explore the historic roots of Haldimand County in nearby Caledonia, Ontario. Your tour will include beautiful Ruthven Park National Historic Site, a stop at the Caledonia Grand Trunk Train Station, lunch with country-fresh products from the area in the Parish Hall of St. Paul’s Anglican Church as organized by the Women’s Club, and a shopping stop at The Coach Pyramids which is a ladies fashion and gift store.
Tours are offered from May 23 to December 20, 2017 – Monday to Friday. Select a date and let your historic journey of Canada’s 150th anniversary begin!

Tours are approximately one hour in length.
Reduced rates are offered. Reservations enable us to make your visit a better experience. Tours can be designed to suit the special needs or interests of your group. Tea and scones can be arranged for your group at a minimal charge. Call or email the Gate House to book your tour now! Ample parking and a drop off area is available for buses.
Pre-arranged guided tours of the gardens, grounds and cemeteries can be offered for groups; otherwise, they are normally self-guided.
Pamphlets, interpretive panels and taped messages are available in some areas to augment your self-guided tour.
Tours of the grounds are self-guided. From time to time, grounds, archaeology and architectural tours are provided by staff and /or volunteers. Please go to the hiking trails page for more information about how to best enjoy the trails on our site.

The Gate House: (office) open Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm, Saturday & Sunday 9:30 am to 4:30 pm.
The Mansion: tours occur 10 am to 5 pm every hour on the hour with the last tour at 4 pm, 7 days a week.
